Pseudostellaria heterophylla, a traditional Chinese medicine name. It is the dried tuberous root of the child ginseng, a plant of the Caryophyllaceae family. It is distributed in Fujian, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shaanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan and other places. It has the effects of invigorating qi, strengthening the spleen, promoting the production of body fluids and moistening the lungs. It is often used for spleen deficiency and physical fatigue, loss of appetite, weakness after illness, insufficiency of qi and Yin, spontaneous sweating and thirst, and dry cough due to lung dryness.

Tai Zi Shen is a traditional Chinese medicine that can be used both as a food and a medicine. It is a qi-tonifying herb with a neutral nature and a sweet taste, belonging to the spleen and lung meridians. It has the effects of nourishing qi, strengthening the spleen, and moistening the lungs. It is suitable for conditions such as spleen deficiency, fatigue, dry cough due to lung dryness, and physical weakness after illness. It can be decocted, soaked in water, or used in soup. The conventional dosage is 6-12 grams, and adjustments should be made according to medical advice.

 

一. Main functions
1. Supplementing qi and nourishing body fluid: Used for loss of appetite, fatigue, and spontaneous sweating caused by qi and yin deficiency, often combined with ingredients such as yam and ophiopogon japonicus.
2. Nourishing the lungs and relieving cough: It can alleviate dry coughs caused by lung dryness, with little phlegm that is sticky and thick. It can be combined with ingredients such as sand ginseng and lily.
3. Calming the nerves and aiding sleep: Improving palpitations and insomnia caused by qi deficiency in the heart, often used in combination with semen ziziphi spinosae and poria cocos.

1. Decoction: Take 6-12 grams of sliced Radix Pseudostellariae, add water, and decoct for 20-30 minutes. Take it warm in divided doses.
2. Tea substitute: 3-5 grams of Radix Pseudostellariae, combined with Astragalus or Wolfberry, brewed with boiling water as a tea substitute.
3. Diet therapy:
Stewed chicken soup with Pseudostellaria heterophylla: Stewed with chicken and red dates, it is suitable for people with physical weaknesses.
Prince Ginseng Broth of white fungus: Cooked with white fungus and rock sugar, it nourishes yin and moistens the lungs.
